Cardiff West

Our site in the West of Cardiff

? Copthorne Hotel, Culverhouse Cross (CF5 6DH)

We know that it can feel like a big step to come along for the first time so we want to do everything possible to make sure you enjoy coming to one of our Sunday services. Here’s what you can expect: On arriving, there is free parking at the Copthorne Hotel.  Once inside you’ll be greeted by our Welcome Team who will help direct you to our services and help you feel at home, whilst answering any questions you may have. They can also give you a Welcome Pack which contains lots of helpful information about the church. If you have children or youth with you, there will be a leader from both of these teams waiting to help you sign them into the right age groups for the morning. Our kids and youth work run in our morning services at every site, for the entirety of the service. You can pop your kids into their groups up to 10 minutes before the main service starts, giving you plenty of time to grab a coffee and find somewhere to sit. For parents of children under 1, there will be a creche area for you to use as and when you need to. We serve refreshments before and after every service, including tea, coffee and doughnuts. These are all absolutely free so please help yourself! Our services follow the same format each week (in each site). We start with 25 minutes of sung worship led by a band. All the words of the songs come up on a screen so that you can join in if you want to. After this we share a few notices about what’s coming up in the life of the church and how to get more involved. We then take a short 5-minute break, giving you a chance to say ‘hello’ to those around you – we also circulate our ‘connect cards’ which you can fill in and hand back to one of the host team if you want to find out more about any of our ministries or upcoming newcomers’ events. After the break there will be a 25-minute Bible-based talk, followed by an opportunity to receive prayer. You can be as involved as you want to be in the service – you can just sit and watch what is going on if you’d prefer. Sometimes people ask what they should wear on a Sunday – our answer is simple: whatever you feel most comfortable in! Most people dress casually so there’s no need to make a special effort on our behalf! Whether you have been to church before or not, you are so welcome at Vineyard.

Site Pastors, Cardiff West
Anna and Mark live in St Fagans in the West of Cardiff, with their two children. They have been part of the Vineyard movement for the last 20 years, having met through a Vineyard church plant in Preston. Anna is a palliative care nurse and has worked in A&E and the Community, recently winning an award for the compassion shown in her role. Mark is the Director of Communications for Vineyard Churches UK & Ireland and has written a book on Church Communications which is being published in September 2019. They are deeply passionate about the West of Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan, where they long to see more of God’s Kingdom break in. On their day off you will find them at one of the many beautiful Welsh beaches with their children and rusty camper van, whatever the weather.

A multi-site church is one church that meets in multiple locations. This is not the same as a church plant. Instead, we are still one church with the same leadership and DNA across all our sites.

Our senior pastors, James and Jen, continue to lead the whole church across the sites, setting the vision and values for the church and preaching regularly at each site on a Sunday. Each site also has its’ own site pastors to oversee and lead that site.
